About the Workshop Series

Walkable communities are beneficial for safety, health, and the economy — but changes to streets and land use can spark debate and resistance.

Making Streets for Everyone: A Walkability Workshop for Elected and Government Leaders is a new virtual workshop series designed to give elected officials and government leaders the knowledge, tools, and confidence to advance walkable, people-first communities.

This series is designed for leaders who want to do the right thing, but may not always know the best path forward or how to build durable support. Participants will leave better prepared to advocate for policy and funding changes to build better streets for their communities.

What You'll Learn

Across four interactive sessions, participants will learn...

  • The fundamentals of safe, accessible street design for all communities

  • How street design impacts safety, health, and economic vitality

  • Policy and funding tools communities can use to implement change

  • How to communicate the value of walkability using real-world examples

How It Works

  • Led by nationally-recognized experts in walkability, public health, and transportation policy

  • Four one-hour live sessions held every three weeks

  • Small cohort size to foster meaningful discussion and Q&A
